M.O.D madness is unleashed upon Cyprus!
The first ever M.O.D. Cyprus tour kicked off in typically chaotic M.O.D style this past weekend in the seaside resort of Paralimni.
In the week leading up to the show, two of our star riders went down. Beatboxing FMX-pioneer Edgar Torronterras had to withdraw injured 2 days before the event after re-injuring his pelvis. His last minute replacement, French M.O.D Rookie David Rinaldo would have to ride ET’s bike which had already been shipped to the Mediterranean island. Then the day before the event, Remi Bizouard crashed hard on a Cliffhanger ‘Flip. Luckily he dusted himself off and walked away with bad bruises and some sore muscles to show for the massive slam.
The show always goes on though, and by Saturday, we were ready to deliver.
Both days saw sick riding, with DJ Mosakken setting the tone with his one-of-a-kind style. An enthusiastic crowd chose Alastair Sayer on night one and Remi on night two for victory in the whip contest. Brice “Coupe de’foot” Izzo and new-kid Rinaldo had some picture perfect Synchro runs, with Vivian Gantner and Ali Sayer throwing down their own unique side-by-side routine.
The “flip progression”, “trains” and “free sessions” were intense in the Cyprus heat and then it was down to the big guy. Our American workhorse, Jon Guetter was in town to deliver the Quad FMX action, but an unexpected crash on his second jump ended his weekend early. Luckily big Jon is just badly bruised and battered and will be ready for next weekend’s show in Limassol (after we get his bent Quad straightened out).
Cyprus is a party island and we just happened to be in town right at the peak of the summer holidays, so its no surprise that M.O.D took the after parties to a whole new level this past weekend. Mixed in with jet skiing, wakeboarding, cliff diving and general silliness during the day, it’s all fun and all dirt, but what else would you expect?
Hot and dirty, is how we roll - another tough week at the office.
Next week’s shows are on Friday and Sunday. Watch this space for more tales of our fun in the sun. For more info on tickets, pics, videos, and other info on our riders and crew, check out www.mastersofdirt.com
